Food waste.
No more.

Restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, hotels and other face the same problem on a daily basis. How much should they produce and what do they do with the surplus food?

“Customer demand can be very unpredictable.“

Reducing food waste is critically important to me. It’s crazy to think that we waste so much bread and food in the US and yet there are people who are starving. When I go to my local farm shop, Im always faced with the same challenge, how much to buy.

We want to give our customer the best service so we have to make sure that we produce enough to meet the demand. On the other side, we don’t want to waste any food.

Food waste.
A huuuge problem.

One third of all food in the world is thrown away. A huge amount of energy is wasted as a result. Costing the global economy close to $940 billion each and every year.

One Burger

Throwing away one burger wastes the same amount of water as a 90-min shower.

One in nine people do not have enough food to eat, that’s 793 million people who are undernourished.

10%

Of global greenhouse gases comes from food that is thrown

Reducing food waste is the 3rd most effective way to address climate change

Eat more.
Waste less.

Eat food while saving the world. One meal at the time. Does it get any easier?

Instead of throwing food away, now all suppliers will have a shared
platform to sell surplus food at great discounts. This will help fight
the global food waste problem while also generating more revenue.

Our affiliated places are careful to deliver the same food quality to
customers as they can expect in other cases when they buy food
from the same places. The places are responsible for preparing
the food offered in the service in accordance with local
legislation regarding handling, storage and transport of food in
accordance with established principles and practices.

As the food sold through +Food is surplus food, it sometimes means
that it may not meet the same visual standard as you might expect –
but it still tastes just as good, for half the price!

Persona.

I recently landed my first job after graduating from collage.

My name is Maria, im 26 years old and I work as a markting assistant at a tech company in San Jose, California. Im very ambitious and love my current job.

Generally I have a very busy schedule trying to fit in as much as possible into my day such as working out, spending time with friends & family, listening to my favorit podcast…

I love cooking and eating good food, however I usually don’t have time to prepare my lunch during the weekdays. Therefore I most often end up buying a sallad or something.

In recent times I have become much more conscious about my consumption. I try to buy more second hand, more environmental friendly products and less plastic. On a personal level I think that every one should do their part for the environment and if I can do my share in my every day life that’s a big plus.

I can’t believe that reducing food waste is the 3rd most effective way to address climate change!

Information Architecture and User Flow

Feedback from first tester based on wireframes.

Throughout the design process, I kept conducting user testing to get feedback and see how users would interact with the product.

Having the sign in just before payment rather than the more usual way was something that many of the users appreciated. After downloading an app most users just want to see what this new app has to offer rather than creating an account without really knowing much about it.
